Thurs 12/06:

  • Complete your take-home tests THOROUGHLY. Bring to class on Tuesday (NO EXCUSES!!)

 

Tues 11/06:

  1. Complete worksheets for Chapter 11.
  2. Complete Eating Disorders/Media questions

 

Thurs 11/01:

  1. Start reading chapter 11.
  2. Visit a toy store (or somewhere with a toy section).
  3. While there, list toys or games you see that show only boys on the packaging, those that show only girls, and those that show both.
  4. Come to class next Tuesday prepared to discuss the following about gender expectations:
  • How do such expectations affect the self-esteem of boys and girls?
  • How do gender expectations become self-fulfilling prophecies?

 

Tu 10/30:

  1. Bring in a picture of yourself from your infancy/childhood.
  2. Ponder and write a response to the following question (to be discussed next time): "Parenting classes should be a requirement for graduation from all high schools in the United States."
  3. Read chapter 10 for further discussion on Thursday.

Tu 10/23:

  1. Review for Unit 3 test on Thursday (postponed due to PACT testing)
  2. Write a review of "What About Bob?" that a teacher could use to support using the movie in class. (USE MANY specifics to demonstrate the connections you see)

 

Tu 10/9:

  • Review Unit Three for upcoming test

 

Tu  9/25:

  1. Read Ch. 6. Be ready for a quiz on Thursday.

 

Tu  9/18: Keep reading Ch. 6

 

Th  9/13:

  1. Bring something to work on for Tuesday in case you finish the test with lots of time left.
  2. Preview chapter 6 for class on Tuesday.

 

Tu  9/11:

  1. Read & KNOW all of Ch. 5. IGNORE Section 2 for now...student presentation on Thursday.
  2. Be planning ahead for your presentation!

 

Th  9/6:

  1. Start planning your lesson to teach class.
  2. Read Ch. 5.
  3. Study for Unit 2 (plus Ch.2) Test

 

Tu   9/4:

  1. Start reading Ch. 4. Test coming up soon.
  2. Complete Worksheet

 

Th   8/30:

  1. Complete experiment projects.

 

Tu   8/28:

  1. Continue working on experiments. COMPLETED Findings report due Tuesday 9/4.
  2. Complete Chapter 3 worksheets.
  3. Make sure you've signed up for your teaching assignment for class.

 

8/23:

  1. Work on your experiments. Come to class on Tuesday with SOME PROGRESS MADE on it. Have data IN HAND!

 

8/21:

  1. Review Ch. 2 if anything is still fuzzy from class today.
  2. Work with your partner(s) on what "human behavior" you wish to research, looking for an answer to "why?"
  • we will officially start these in class Thursday but you may get a jump on them
  • make sure your choice is something can be researched using one of the methods outlined in Ch. 2.
  • More specifics to follow on Thursday

 

8/16:

  1. Review Ch. 1 & be ready for quiz on Tuesday.
  2. Choose 3 options (from material listed in the book & from the board) to teach to the class (Plan A, Plan B, Plan C)

 

8/14:

  1. Read Chapter 1. DUE 8/16
  2. Print syllabus, show to parents, have them sign Student/ Parent Contract.
  3. Bring printed syllabus to class along with SIGNED contract.  DUE BY CLASS ON 8/23
